JFQA Dual Submission Policy

About Dual Submission

The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA) partners with select conferences to offer a dual-submission option. Authors may have their paper considered by the JFQA for possible publication in addition to the conference, without paying the JFQA initial submission fee. To be considered by the JFQA, authors must indicate their dual-submission choice at the time of conference submission. (For general JFQA submission information and systems, see the JFQA Submissions page.)

If the JFQA declines a paper under the dual-submission option, this does not count as a JFQA rejection. Authors may later submit their paper to the JFQA through the regular process without penalty.

Dual Submission Process

  1. Submit to the conference and check the option to be considered by the JFQA under dual submission. Do not upload the paper to the JFQA system at the same time.
  2. The conference organizers review all submissions. They then forward dual-submission papers—together with conference reviews/decisions—to the JFQA for consideration.
  3. Authors will first receive a conference decision. A conference rejection does not automatically imply a JFQA rejection; please wait for the JFQA decision email (this may take a few more weeks).
  4. The JFQA sponsoring editors determine which papers to invite to proceed under dual submission. Authors may not submit their paper to another journal until they receive the JFQA dual-submission decision email.
  5. If invited to proceed, authors will be asked to upload their paper to Editorial Manager via the JFQA Submissions page. The first-round JFQA fee is waived. Standard resubmission fees apply for subsequent rounds.
  6. If the JFQA declines a paper under dual submission, authors may submit their paper to the JFQA through the regular JFQA submission process or submit to another journal.

Dual Submission Rules

  • The paper must not be under review at any journal at the time of dual submission.
  • Authors may not dual-submit the same paper to more than one conference or journal simultaneously.
  • The same paper cannot be dual-submitted to the JFQA more than once. If declined under dual submission, it cannot be submitted via another dual submission.
  • Papers previously rejected by the JFQA (or papers that non-trivially incorporate material from a JFQA-rejected paper) are ineligible for JFQA dual submission.
  • Authors must wait for the JFQA dual-submission decision before submitting their paper to another journal.

Conferences that offer JFQA dual submission (such as the Baruch-JFQA Climate Finance and Sustainability Conference) will announce that clearly in their calls for papers and will typically adhere to the dual-submission rules listed above.
