Mariassunta Giannetti will replace retiring George Pennacchi as a Managing Editor

George Pennacchi is retiring and will step down as a Managing Editor of the journal effective September 1, 2026. He will continue to handle his assigned manuscripts in process or in R&R status, but will not handle any new submissions after August 31, 2026. The Managing Editors of the journal thank George for his years of service and contributions to the growth of the JFQA, beginning as an Associate Editor twenty years ago.

We are pleased to announce that Mariassunta Giannetti will join the JFQA as one of the Managing Editors when George steps down. Mariassunta’s research in corporate finance and financial intermediation has advanced our understanding of production networks and trade credit, intermediaries’ organizational structures and fire sales, banking and monetary policy, financial integration, entrepreneurship, and corporate governance and sustainability. Her work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Management Science. Mariassunta is the Katarina Martinson Professor of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics, a Research Fellow at CEPR, and a Research Member and Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute. She is a Director of the American Finance Association and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial Economics, having previously served on the editorial boards of the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Finance, and the Economic Journal. Her distinctions include the Assar Lindbeck Medal, the NYU Stern/Imperial/Fordham Rising Star in Finance Award, the Sun Yefang Financial Innovation Award, and the ECB Lamfalussy Research Fellowship.
